The Radiant Ready 30E is a complete radiant mechanical room designed in a compact, preassembled, easy-to-install panel. It’s pre-wired and pre-assembled and all the installer needs to do is hang the unit on a wall and hook up the tubing and thermostat. Fast Trak 0.5 – the second component of the installation – is a knobbed panel that allows contractors to install radiant tubing over an existing subfloor in less time than ever before. In fact, this entire basement installation – almost 1,000 square feet – was completed by two Uponor-trained installers in less than seven hours.

First, one of the installers adheres the Fast Trak Edge Strip which protects the drywall from the concrete overpour and also provides insulation value. Next, both installers place the Fast Trak panels, which feature a system of interlocking knobs and an adhesive backing to secure them to the floor. This application is quick and efficient and only took the two installers 25 minutes to finish the 350-square-foot main living area. One installer then feeds the tubing into the grooves of the Fast Trak panels.

While the one installer is laying down the tubing, the other is in the mechanical room with the Radiant Ready 30E. He measures a minimum of 48" from the floor to hang the installation bracket and then both installers lift the unit onto the bracket and secure it to the wall. The tubing supply and return lines are then connected to the manifold, and a licensed electrician hooks up the 50-amp electric power supply. To get the system up and running, the installer fills and purges the system by connecting a water supply to the fill valves on the Engineered Plastic (EP) Manifold inside the Radiant Ready 30E. Each loop is purged individually before the system is brought up to design pressure. Finally, the concrete overpour provides the last step in the installation. The lightweight gypsum product is pumped into the basement, quickly covering the Fast Trak mats and the Wirsbo hePEX™ tubing. This application only raises the floor height by less than one inch, and within a few hours the floor is cured and safe to walk on.
